Katherine "Kay" Condley

January 21, 1912 — November 4, 2014

Katherine "Kay "Condley nee Kistler was born in Willard, OH formerly called Chicago Junction to Charles and Josephine Christian Kistler on January 21, 1912. Her father was a surveyor for the B&O Railroad, and was later a well known architect in Portage County. The family lived in Whiting, IN before returning home to Kent. Kay attended Central School in Kent and graduated in 1929 from Roosevelt High School. She later attended Actual Business College.

Katherine was a long time member of United Methodist Church of Kent where she attended Sunday school and became a member in 1928. She was secretary of the Women's society and was a member of several church circles.

She was active in PTA as secretary and later President. She helped organize Davey Junior High PTA and was the first member. Kay was a member of several clubs including fifty year member of the Kent Women's Club and officer in the Traveler's club. She was also a member of Business & Professional Women and OAPSE. Katherine retired in 1980 from the Kent City Schools Board of Education offices after working there 25 years in several different jobs.

Survivors include son Charles (Barbara) Condley of Ravenna and daughter Karen (Dr. James) Mikula of Rocky River. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Heather (Scott) Rainone of Ravenna, Christopher (Mari) Condley of Virginia, Christine (Gilbert) Montez of Orlando FL, and Kathleen (Christopher) Sullivan of West Chester, OH , eight great-grandchildren, Nick, Ben and Jack Rainone, Andrew, Jacob and Stephen Montez, Gloria and Lauren Sullivan, and her half-sister Jean Parker of Port St. Lucie, Fla Katherine was preceded in death by her husband Meredith (M.G.) Condley to whom she was married for 53 years, her father and mother, and step -mother Mabel Kistler.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, November 8th at the United Methodist Church of Kent with Rev. Dr. David Palmer and Rev. Douglas Denton officiating, where calling hours will be held from 2 PM until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to United Methodist Church of Kent, 1435 E. Main Street, Kent, OH 44240. Bissler & Sons Funeral Home are handling the arrangements.
