Kathleen (Smith) Hogan

December 3, 1946 — October 18, 2022

Aurora, OH

Kathleen Smith Cost Hogan died on Tuesday, October 18, 2022. Kathy was born on December 3, 1946 and was the youngest daughter of Thelma and Edward Smith. She grew up in Pittsburgh and graduated from Langley High School. Though she held an array of jobs throughout her work life, Kathy took most pride in her years as a legal secretary.

Kathy was outgoing, fun, and friendly, with a wicked sense of humor, a bright smile, and an easy laugh. She was a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and she loved golden retrievers and shopping on QVC. Kathy enjoyed annual trips to Florida with her late husband Dennis and their cocktail hour together on the back porch.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, her nephew Bobby Rodgers, a grandson, and her former husband Robert Cost. Her husband of 38 years, James Dennis Hogan, died last November. She is survived by her sister Clara “Bickle” Rodgers; her sister Nancy (Butch) Schuler; nieces Colleen Schuler, Barbara (John) Loniero, and Bonnie Rodgers (Dean Redger); nephews Ronnie (Nancy) Schuler, and Billy (Jan) Rodgers; four stepdaughters, Beth (Brad) Hansen, Molly (Kurt Schneider) Hogan, Ellen (Jon) Elsen, and Sarah (Dennis) Shoemaker; a stepson Jamie Hogan; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many cousins. She will be deeply missed.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kent Social Services, 705 Oakwood Street, Suite 221, Ravenna, Ohio 44266 or Big Brothers Big Sisters of Portage County, 653 Enterprise Pkwy, Ravenna, Ohio.
