Kathryn Diane Kish, 68, of Kent, passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2006 at Robinson Memorial Hospital after a battle with stomach cancer. She was born June 11, 1938, in Heilwood, PA to George and Mary (Stupic) Slanoc, and has been a resident of Kent for 43 years.
Mrs. Kish was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the Red Hat Club at Silver Oaks Retirement Center where she had resided for the last four years, and the 880 UFW union. Mrs. Kish stayed at home to raise her children, but then worked outside the home for several years. She was most recently employed as manager in the Bakery at the Apples grocery store in Kent for 13 years, retiring in 2000.
Mrs. Kish enjoyed growing flowers on her patio, cooking, baking, and playing bingo with her dear friend, Gloria Ferry or going to lunch with her other dear friend, Kathy Furino. She also watched baseball and football and was a huge Steelers fan. Most of all, she enjoyed time with her family.
She will be sadly missed by her husband of 43 years, Robert; daughters, Lisa (Rod) Poor of Akron and Paula (Bill) Henderson of Upper Saint Clair, PA; son, Bobby (Erin) Kish of Kent; grandchildren, Hallie, Jenna, Carly, Wilson, Bennett, and Angel; and many other family members and friends.
Calling hours will be held 6-8 PM Friday at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory in Kent. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday at St. Patrick's Church in Kent. Burial will be in Standing Rock Cemetery in Kent. Memorial contributions may be made to RMH Foundation-Visiting Nurse-Hospice, POB 1204, Ravenna, Ohio 44266-1204.
