Keith Burgess, 85, died Sept 27th in Watertown. N. Y. after a short illness. He was born Sept. 8, 1921 to Paul A. and Rose M. (Green) Burgess.
As a teacher, father, husband and friend, he was well-respected and loved by many. He taught in Windham schools and Kent City Schools for 32 years, earning his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Education from Kent State University. He was proud to be the first director of the Learning Disabilities Program in the Kent School System.
He was a talented artist who also taught Adult Art classes. He loved traveling and spending summers with his family at their cottage in Ontario.
Keith was a veteran of the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a past member of Rockton Lodge F & AM, The Kent Lion's Club, Kent Forensic Club, a Life member of the Ohio Education Association and a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Kent.
He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 53 years, Kathryn (Hahn), his daughters, Susan Burgess-Hill (Denis) of Hope, ME and Linda Anderson (Terry) of Butler; his sons, John Kelly and Michael (Natalia) both of Portland, OR and Craig (Susan) of Mantua. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren, Sara, Olenka, Edward, Eric, Rhonda, Lori, Jason and Travis; 10 great grand children; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Wendell and Ned.
At his request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday November 4, 2006 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Elizabeth Hazelton officiating.
