Kenneth L. Deacon Sr., 83, of Kent, died peacefully on Saturday, March 26, 2016 surrounded by his family.
He was born March 16, 1933 in Stow and retired as an operator for the city of Kent. He was an active member of the American Legion. Ken enjoyed his 20 years of retirement playing Euchre, watching football (rooting for the Steelers), spending time with his grandchildren and racing cars. He had fond memories of his fellow members of the "Rat Pack" car club and will be remembered as still hitting his nitrous button at the age of 82!
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Deacon (2004), sister Geri (Bill) Scheub and survived by his son Kenneth (Wendy) Deacon, Jr. of Suffield; grandchildren Derek, Dylan and Dean. His life was full of many friends and other extended family members, including his brother Mike "Mickey" (Darcy) Pipes, his sisters Joan (Hank) Shoenfelt and Judy Rhinehart.
Calling hours will be held 6-8 PM Thursday, March 31st at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory in Kent. A burial will be held at Standing Rock Cemetery in Kent 11:00 AM Friday, April 1st.
