Kyan W. Kraus, 63, of Kent, died Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Akron City Hospital Medical Center.
He was born April 13, 1952 in Massillon to Clarence and Rita Jean (Hoosan) Kraus. Kyan has his Bachelor's Degree from Kent State University and had his CPA License. He began his career at Arthur Anderson & Co.. He changed companies to Forest City Enterprises Real Estate Development & Construction where he worked on major projects in the United States like Tower City Center in Cleveland, Ohio, Tuscan, Arizona Mall and University Park MIT in Boston Massachusetts. He decided 20 years ago to open his own independent accounting firm which he operated until his death. Kyan enjoyed duck hunting, fishing, cooking and camping on the weekends. These activities were shared with his many friends. His was a member of the Board of Directors for the Ohio Decoy Collectors and Carvers Assn. He was also an active member of the Ohio Waterfowl Assn. and the Mahoning Valley, Accounting Society.
He is survived by brothers, Kurt (Janice) Kraus of Mentor and Kenton (Cindy) Kraus of Fountain Valley, CA; nephews and nieces, Ben (Kate) Kraus of Concord, Cecily (Rich) Gates of Huntington Beach, CA, Kevin Kraus of Fountain Valley, CA, Kelly (Rachel) Kraus-Lee of Long Beach, CA, Kara Kraus of Fountain Valley, CA, and Keith Kraus of Kent. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Keith H. Kraus.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 PM Wednesday, May 13th at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home. Private burial will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery in Massillon.
