Laura A. (Brett) Buckeye, 53, of Ravenna, died on Friday, January 29, 2021. Laura was born on October 5, 1967 in Akron, Ohio to Terence and Mary Barbara (Moffatt) Brett.
Laura was a graduate of Field High School and Kent State University and received her Master’s degree at Ohio State University.
She worked at Kent State for 20 years, the last 18 as Program Director for the Educational Studies and Integrated Health Studies bachelors’ degree programs. Before KSU, she worked as Health Commissioner for the Ravenna City Health Department and Health Educator for the Summit County Health Department.
She will be remembered for her love of family and friends, kind heart, courage, and passion for life. She was active in sports, loved attending her children’s sporting events, and enjoyed camping, traveling and watching the Browns while drinking a beer.
Laura was preceded in death by her Father, Terence “Terry” Brett and Father-In-Law, Dave "Buck" Buckeye.
Laura is Survived by Husband, Doug Buckeye; Children, Sarah and Nate; Mother, Mary Barbara Brett; Mother-in-Law, Pat Buckeye; Siblings, Theresa (Dan) Brett, Kathy (Bill) Long, Dan (Julie) Brett, Karen(Rick) Sepi and Beth (Mike) Stafford; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to especially thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Akron Summa for their amazing care.
Private family services will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church following Covid restrictions. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
