He was predeceased by brother Ralph Bryner & nephew Scott Bryner.
A descendant of one of Brimfield's pioneer families, Lawrence was a co founder and first president of the Brimfield Historical House Association (now the Brimfield Historical Society). He was a graduate of Kent State University High School and attended Mt. Union College before graduating from Kent State University with a degree in biology at the age of 40. A 60-year member of IBEW Local 306, he spent the majority of his working life with McBee-Gray Electric of Ravenna. He also spent several years as maintenance foreman for Rotek in Ravenna & Aurora. In his youth, Lawrence was a member of Boy Scout Troop 259 and the Brimfield Junior Grange.
His long-time devotion to environmental and historical causes is exemplified by the donation to the Western Reserve Land Conservancy a conservation/ agricultural easement on the last remnant of his Great-grandfather Nathaniel Twitchell's farm, preserving green space in the middle of "downtown Brimfield."
Lawrence was an omnivorous reader and collector of books on many topics, especially histories of science and memoirs of naturalists. He was a lover of classical music and art. A gentle, unassuming, and introspective man, he would rather be injured himself than to injure another in any way. A long-term member of the Brimfield Methodist community, he was a devout Christian who witnessed to his faith by his life rather than by his words.
A memorial service will be held at Faith United Methodist Church of Brimfield on Wednesday May 30 at 11 a.m., with visitation one-half hour before. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith UMC of Brimfield, The Brimfield Historical Society (Post Office Box 1231, Kent, Ohio 44240) or the Western Reserve Land Conservancy (online or at PO Box 314 Novelty, OH 44072).
