Leah Marie Sly, 88, of Kent, died Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at her home.
She was born January 15, 1926 in Bulpitt, IL to John Thomas and Margaret (Lee) Crocker.
She is survived by her sons, Thomas (Mary) Sly of Kent and Robert W. Sly of Naples, FL.; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and sister, Wanda Jean Anderson of Santa Rosa, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Sly In April 2014; and her daughter, Susan Jean Sly in January, 1958.
Leah attended high school in Lakewood, Ohio, where she made many lifelong friends. Following high school she attended the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve University. As a Registered Nurse, she worked in several hospitals and finally retired from Western Electric where she worked as an industrial nurse. Leah was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Nothing was more important to her than the well-being of her family. She lived in Brazil for 5 years when her husband, Rich, took an assignment there with GM. In her later years, they moved to Kent to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 PM Monday, September 15th at Sunset Memorial Park, 6265 Columbia Rd, N Olmstead, OH with Pastor Tim Hanze officiating. Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory are handling the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to the Alzheimer's Association, or Crossroads Hospice.
