Leonard "Len" Edwin Reinker, Sr., 86, of Kent, died peacefully on December 12, 2017, at Kent Healthcare Center after a long illness. Leonard was born December 5, 1931 in Akron to Sylvester R. and Esther P. (Kolsar) Reinker. Leonard grew up in Kent, and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1949. He attended Kent State University and served in the military during the Korean War.
A longtime local business owner, Leonard owned and operated Cressbrook/Reinker's Market, which was a fixture in Kent for over 50 years. Leonard sold the family business and enjoyed an early retirement spending time at home with his wife, horses and dogs. In his retirement he became an avid reader, often finding articles of interest to share with family and friends. Leonard enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, gardening, photography, fishing, and collecting antiques and unusual items. He was the longest standing member of Faith Lutheran Church in Kent.
He is survived by his beloved wife Nancy L. (Germany) Reinker, whom he married in Memphis, TN on August 6, 1955; sons Leonard Reinker, Jr of Kent, Larry (Lori) Reinker of Chicago, IL; and daughter, Jennifer (Anthony) Zimmerman (formerly Foerst) of Streetsboro; and grandchildren, Beau Reinker, Kelsey Reinker, Kirsten Reinker, Andrew (Jessica) Foerst, Joshua Foerst, Brian (Gina) Zimmerman, and Jason Zimmerman. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, George Reinker; and sister, Phyllis Gaines.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, December 18, 2017 at Faith Lutheran, 931 E. Main Street, Kent, with Pastor George Gaiser officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service time at the church. Private burial will be held at Standing Rock Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Faith Lutheran Church.
