Linda Elaine Manfrass, formerly of Twin Lakes, age 79, passed away November 18, 2021 at the Westbrook Place nursing facility in Westlake, Ohio, following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's.
She was born September 11, 1942, in Ravenna, Ohio, the first daughter of Clarence and Grace (Newman) Manfrass. Linda graduated from Kent State University School in 1960 where she played and loved all sports from field hockey to basketball - earning the nickname “Cousy" in honor of the comparison of her left-handed hook shot to that of professional basketball icon of the time, Bob Cousy. Linda became a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1963 beginning a long and wonderful career with Robinson Memorial Hospital (now University Hospital) in Ravenna. She received her Registered Nursing degree from Youngstown State University in 1975 and retired from ER nursing in 1998. Following her retirement, Linda continued supporting the medical facility at University Hospital by volunteering weekly in various capacities for the next 25 years.
Linda was preceded in death by parents, Clarence and Grace Manfrass. Surviving Linda is sister, Kathleen Dixon (Richard) and brother, Theodore G. Manfrass (Linda Berthold). Nieces and nephews, Kim Stiles (Steve), Jenna Bradford (Tom), TJ Manfrass (Kate), Lindsay Dixon and Lauren Manfrass. Also surviving are great nieces and nephews: Dylan, Daniel, Tyler, Margot and Porter.
A Celebration of Life service and spaghetti dinner will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at the First Christian Church, 335 W. Main St., Kent, Ohio at 5 pm. Donations to University Hospital, Portage Foundation - Volunteer Services would be greatly appreciated.
