Llewellyn R. "Lew" Hintz, 83, of Ravenna, formerly of Kent, died Thursday, December 20, 2012 at Robinson Memorial Hospital.
He was born August 10, 1929 in Marshfield, WI to Paul and Alvina (Wegner) Hintz. He was a U S Navy veteran, serving during the Korean conflict. Lew was a Milwaukee School of Engineering graduate. He worked for Goodyear Aerospace
for thirty-three years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Kent Elks and the American Legion. He enjoyed sports, especially Kent State Basketball, and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his son: Thomas (Terri) Hintz of Ravenna; daughters, Lynn (Marv) Bowers of Ravenna, Laura Hintz of Streetsboro, Rose (Dennis) Saxe of Kent, and Lisa (Kurt) Frye of Tallmadge; five grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; brothers, Roger (Marlene) Hintz of Muskego, WI., Ronald (Lois) Hintz of Kent, and special friend Joan Koucky. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly (Feirer) Hintz, sisters, Elaine Degner and Lila Roen, brothers, Frederick Hintz and Donald Hintz.
Calling hours will be held 5-8 PM Wednesday, December 26th, 2012, at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home 628 West Main Street, Kent. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, December 27 at St. Patrick Church 313 DePeyster St. Kent,
with Father Richard Pentello officiating. Burial will be held at Grandview Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Animal Protective League, 8122 Infirmary Road, Ravenna, OH 44266 in honor of his best friend Bacon.
