Lois Ann Orlando, 76, of Kent, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2022 at University Hospitals Portage Medical Center. She was born in Oil City, PA on November 30, 1945 to the late William and Grace Hill and was a graduate of Venango Christian High School. Lois went on to earn her bachelors degree from the Franciscan University of Steubenville and began employment as a school teacher at St. Vincent’s Elementary School. She has worked several jobs over the years, including, self employed payroll specialist, assistant manager/loan officer at Kent Credit Union, senior associate at J.C. Penney and general manager of Charlotte’s West at Summit Mall.
Lois was an avid reader and shopper. She enjoyed sports and loved her Cleveland teams. She was very involved with volunteer work and was a volunteer coordinator with Portage County Red Cross and volunteered extensively with the Boy Scouts of America. Lois loved dogs and was lead puppy instructor for All Breed Training Club of Akron. She was a very social person and loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be deeply missed and always remembered.
In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her son Anthony C. Orlando and her brother William C. Hill III.
She leaves her loving husband Peter Orlando; son Scott (Katie) Orlando; daughter Angela Orlando; grandchild Abby Howell; sister-in-law Linda M. Hill; her dogs, Gryffin and Raven and her grandpuppy SNKRS.
In honoring her wishes, Lois will be cremated, and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at 11:00AM at University Parish Newman Center, 1424 Horning Rd. Kent, OH 44240, with the Rev. Fr. Chad Johnson as Celebrant. Inurnment will follow at Standing Rock Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday, October 4, 2022 from 4:00-7:00PM at Bissler and Sons Funeral Home, 628 W. Main St. Kent, OH 44240.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made, in her name, to the Portage County Animal Protective League, 8122 Infirmary Rd. Ravenna, OH 44266.
