Lois passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 18 after living a life of loving kindness. She was born April 10, 1924, in Wintersville OH to Henry Martin Eft and Louise Scott Eft, growing up on a farm surrounded by the love and joy of her eight siblings. In her youth and young adult life, Lois was an active member of the Starkdale Presbyterian Church and 4H.
She married her husband Paul M. Sliver on Christmas Day in 1952, raising their three children in Kent, OH. Lois and Paul created lifetime friendships with many families in the community, especially the Hensel's, Leppo's, Nichol's, Smith's, Wiencek's, Longs, and Ake's. They loved to travel, vacationing in Canada or along the coastal beaches of the Carolinas, as well as across the United States and Europe. During her lifetime in Kent, Lois enjoyed playing bridge with her dear friends for almost 60 years, she was an active member of the United Church of Christ in Kent and its Women's Circle. In addition to working full time as Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent of the Steubenville and Kent City Schools and retiring from Longcoy Elementary, she found time to volunteer as a member of the UCC bell choir, den mother for Girl Scouts, Campfire Girls, and the Portage County Clothing Center. She was an avid reader who loved music and her Cleveland sports teams.
Lois would want to be remembered most for the unwavering loving presence she was in the lives of her children and grandchildren. She and Paul leave behind in death son Jim (Terri) Silver, and daughters Jan (Rich) Mclntosh, and Joyce (Chaz) Deptola, grandchildren Richard and John Mclntosh; Kelli (Rob) Myers, Rachel (Danridge) Giltz, Paul Silver; Stephen, Matthew, Lauren, and Jack Deptola, and great granddaughters Erin and Adrian Myers. She was an integral part of their lives. Her greatest joy in life was in raising her family.
After Paul's death in 2010, Lois spent her remaining years as a resident of the Stow Glenn Residential Home and while there developed friendships with staff and fellow residents. She entered heaven as she lived, peacefully and with grace.
