Lois Tinner Brown, age 94, of Kent, passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2021 at her home.
Lois was born August 23, 1927 in Cleveland to Joseph and Grace (Bacher) Jones.
Lois spent most of her life in Kent, Ohio excluding 18 years in Centerville, VA. She returned to Kent in 2013 where she enjoyed reconnecting with dear friends and loved ones. Lois loved to travel with her Husband, Jim, with many memorable adventures to Alaska, Switzerland and New Zealand. Lois was an accomplished sailor and spent many happy times with family and friends sailing her home waters of Lake Erie. Lois was a kind and giving person who delighted in her family and friends, and made sure that their plates were full with her amazing baked pies. She was a dedicated homemaker and active leader in the community serving as a leader and volunteer in many of her children’s activities, and continued her community involvement until her passing. Lois enjoyed good health, lived a rich, full life and was able to attend church and have a weekly dinner outing with close friends, two activities that brought her great joy during her twilight years.
She is survived by her husband, James Brown, her children Dale (Caroline) Tinner, Beth (Richard) Keller, stepchildren Jamie (Ted) Ball and Duane Brown. She had four grandchildren, five step grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Grace Jones, her son Walter C. Tinner and first husband Sterling W. Tinner.
A Memorial service will be held at the First Congregational Church, 47 Aurora St., Hudson, Ohio at 1:00pm on Tuesday, October 19th, 2021. Reverend Peter Wiley will be officiating. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
