Lucille Lomax Moore, 89, died on January 11, 2015.
She was born in Maplewood, NJ and she lived in Kent for more than 60 years.
Lu graduated from Oberlin College and received a Master's degree in Education from New York University. She returned to college after raising her children and earned a Master's degree in Special Education. She taught physical education at Hudson High School and St. Olaf College, and she taught special needs children at Weaver School. Lu coached basketball and volleyball teams while at Hudson High School.
Lu was married to her lifelong love, Donald A. Moore, for 60 years. Her life revolved around her husband, children and grandchildren, and her family was the passion of her life. Lu had a generous and gentle spirit and was a loving and loyal friend to many.
Lu and Don loved sports and they were avid fans of Kent State athletics for many years. Lu also loved music and she shared this love with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by daughter, Joan (Everett Fleming) Marvin; son, Tom (Kim) Moore; daughter-in-law, Stephanie Moore; grandchildren: Matthew (Beth) Marvin, Rosemary Marvin Harris, Timothy Moore, Daniel Moore, Tyler Moore, Brandon Moore, Lauren Moore, Miranda Moore and Emily Moore; five great grandchildren; sister, Jeanne Bausmith and brother, Donald (Judy) Lomax.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Don, and her sons, James Moore and Paul Moore; grandson-in-law, Timothy Harris.
The family would like to extend special thanks to long-time loving caregiver, Lori Kossick; Visiting Angels: Darla Collum, Debra Davis, Janet Mateja, and Katie Virag; and devoted friends, Joan McFall and Joan Eschler.
The family will receive friends 6:00 until 8:00 PM Wednesday, January 14th at Bissler and Sons Funeral Home, 628 West Main Street Kent and Thursday, January 15th from 11:00 AM until noon at the Kent United Church of Christ, 1400 East Main Street, Kent. Funeral services will be held at noon at the United Church of Christ. Burial will be at Standing Rock Cemetery.
