Lynda W. Best, 79, of Kent, died Sunday, December 10, 2017, at UH Portage Medical Center.
She was born August 15, 1938 in West Chester, PA to Charles and Virginia (McConkey) Weaver. She received her Bachelors from Bucknell University in 1960 and her M.Ed. in 1977 from Kent State University. She was the Director of Adult Student Services at Kent State University for 25 years, retiring in 2001. Lynda was a member and Vice President of the National Association of Women Deans, Administrators and Counselors. She was on the Board of Directors of the Northern Ohio Bibliophilic Society (N.O.B.S.) and VP of Citizens for Quality Integrated Education in Seattle.
She is survived by her husband, James Joseph Best, whom she met at Tufts University in 1960 and married on August 25, 1961; sons, Bryan (Lori) Best of Kent and Brett (Gwen Daley) Best of Rock Hill, SC; grandson, Donald James "DJ" Best and brother, Rick Weaver of West Chester, PA.
Funeral services will be held at a later date at the Kent State University-Student Center.
