M. Evelyn Colville

February 12, 1934 — November 1, 2021

Stow, OH

M. Evelyn Colville, born Feb.12, 1934, passed away peacefully on Nov. 1, 2021, at The Landing at Stow, where she resided for the last couple of years.

Growing up on a farm in Licking County, Evelyn enjoyed the beauty and wonder of life from a very early age.  Her parents, Hugh and Mary (Bovard) Colville raised cattle, goats, pigs and sheep and a few other miscellaneous critters, from whence came her love for all animals and pets.

Evelyn was the pulse of activity.  Her laughter was contagious, her stories unending.  A well-rounded, smart and well-liked individual she made positive contributions to whatever community she was a part of.  Camp Ohio, Ohio’s 4-H summer camp, is just one of many places on which she left a footprint.

A Utica High School graduate, Evelyn earned her B. S. from Ohio University and her M.A. from Miami University of Ohio.  Her early career in education began in Newark, Ohio, and ended at Kent State University, where she was first an instructor in the Laboratory School and then in the education classroom. She taught classes in Early Childhood Education and reading, mentored young education students and supervised many student teachers.

Preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn is survived and remembered by many cousins and former colleagues and students as well as neighbors.

In honoring her wishes, there will be no service.  Memorial donations may be made to your local pet rescue organization.
