Margaret C. Kotun
Margaret C. Kotun of Kent, Ohio passed away Monday August 15, 2016 at U H Portage Medical Center in Ravenna, Oh. She was born on June 6, 1922 in Youngstown, Pennsylvania to Anna A. Bodnar and Stephen F. Yablunosky. She lived most of her young years in Youngstown, PA (near Lemont Furnace, PA) where she attended grade school and graduated from North Union High School. She attended St. Cecilia's Church in Youngstown, PA, worked at the H. C. Frick Co. of Pittsburgh and Stambaugh Union Supply Co. Margaret, her three sisters and one brother all enjoyed music and often the sisters' trio sang in community events during and after high school, and was a member of the Uniontown Choral Society. Her sister Frances Carolla was a talented artist. Later, Margaret moved to Youngstown, Ohio and eventually to Kent, Ohio with her three daughters and husband George Kotun who worked at Chrysler Corporation in Twinsburg. Margaret worked in the offices of the M. O'Neil Company and Kent City Bank, now KEY BANK, at the University Plaza branch. She was a member of St. Patrick Church of Kent.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, George H. Kotun; sisters, Dorothy Kula of Uniontown, Pennsylvania, Amy (John) Pileggi and Francie (Lou) Carolla; and brother, Steve Yablunosky. She is survived by daughters, Constance La Monica of Santa Monica, California, Carol Kotun of Stow, Ohio, and Cathy Simon of Plano, Texas; grandson, Christopher Simon of Plano, Texas; sister; sister-in-law, Doris Yablunosky of Rockville, Maryland; Godchildren, Toni Kula of Uniontown, Pennsylvania, Andrea Yablunosky of Alexandria, Virginia, and Nicholas Carolla of Madison, Wisconsin; and many nieces and nephews. Margaret will be remembered for her devotion to family and friends.
There will be no calling hours. There will be a private graveside service with Deacon Timothy DeFrange at Standing Rock Cemetery of Kent, with arrangements made through Bissler and Sons Funeral Home. A memorial Mass at St. Patrick Church will take place at a later date.
