Marilyn Ann “Mare” Monroe, age 75, of Kent, was called home to the Lord, with her loving family by her side, on Monday, October 19, 2020.
Marilyn was born February 21, 1945 in Cleveland to Joseph and Anna (Kralicek) Brichacek.
She met her future husband, Dale L. Monroe, of Hiram, on a bus trip to Montreal, Canada, at “Expo 1967” (The World’s Fair). They were married the following year, on October 5th, 1968.
They resided in Mantua for three years before settling in Kent, where they raised their three children, which have been the couple’s pride, joy, and loving responsibility throughout their lives.
Mare held jobs with The Cleveland Pneumatic Tool Company, The Stow Dental Group, Kent State University, JoAnn, and Davey Tree, through the years. She retired in 2003, to spend more time watching over her sweet grandchildren, with whom she had so much fun. She delighted in serving her parish, St. Patrick Catholic Church of Kent, having volunteered with the greeter’s and prayer line ministries. She was also a Meals on Wheels and Welcome Wagon volunteer.
She was an avid animal lover, having had many pets throughout her life. She loved gardening, creating memory pictures with counted cross-stitch, crocheting, knitting, sewing, and basket-weaving. She enjoyed decorating cakes for family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Dale L. Monroe of Kent; sons, Dale J. (Traci) Monroe of Medina, and Mark (Julie) Monroe of Deerfield; daughter, Donna (Mark) Swanson of Cuyahoga Falls; grandchildren Ashley, Dylon, Kayla, Josh and Emily; cousins, Arlene Schill, and Bill Gabriel; brother in law, Roger (Sue) Monroe; sister in law, Carol (David) Myford; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
