Marley Beeman was born on October 25th of 2010. She was supposed to be a Christmas baby, however she had other plans in mind. Marley decided she was going to be a Halloween baby. She must have known that Halloween was her mother's favorite holiday. Although Marley was born weighing 3 lbs. 4 oz., she thought she was the size of a full-term baby. She had a mighty spirit and her mother's sass.
Marley spent the first 5 weeks of her life in the special care nursery at Akron Children's Hospital. She spent the next two months of her life indoors to protect her from the elements. At three months old, Marley moved with her mother to her nana and poppy's house. Marley was showered with love at her nana and poppy's house. The small community of East Muzzy Lake was overjoyed to have such a beautiful baby residing with them.
In March of 2011, 4 month old, Marley was diagnosed with Autoimmune Lymphoproliferative Syndrome (ALPS), an extremely rare and life threatening blood disorder. Marley's Doctors at Akron Children's Hospital attempted to treat her disease with immunosuppressive drugs and blood transfusions. When the immunosuppressive drugs became less effective, Marley required transfusions on a daily basis. As her health began to rapidly deteriorate, Marley's Doctors decided that she would need a Bone Marrow Transplant to save her life.
In August of 2011, Marley and her mother were transported from Akron Children's Hospital to Cincinnati Children's Hospital via helicopter. In Cincinnati, Marley waited for 6 months to find a bone marrow donor before she could receive her transplant on January, 27th of 2012. Due to complications from the transplant it was necessary for Marley to reside in Cincinnati Children's Hospital for the remainder of her life.
Marley had several happy months in the hospital and at the Ronald McDonald House. When she was feeling well she loved to smile, laugh, babble, play with her toys, go for walks in her stroller, give kisses with her forehead and snuggle with her mother and father.
Marley passed away on July 18th of 2012 in her mother's arms with her father standing over them. She had a memorial service on the morning of July 19th of 2012 at Standing Rock Cemetery. She leaves behind her mother, Brooke Beeman; father, Jerrel Howard; nana, Lori Fisher; poppy, Donald Fisher; aunt, Brandi Brittain; uncles, Ben Fisher and Broudy Fisher; granny, Sharon Latimer; extra special friends, Teresa, Christy and Joshua;and many more loving family members.
