Martha G. Fitzpatrick passed away peacefully at her home on June 28 surrounded by her family. The daughter of Glenn and Allene Galloway, she was born in East Liverpool, Ohio, February 12, 1922 and graduated from East Liverpool High School in 1939 and Kent State University in 1945 with a degree in Education. She then taught in the East Palestine and Cleveland school systems before marrying Cleveland radio personality, F. Stanley Gee with whom she had two children. For years she was a prominent book reviewer in the Cleveland area before returning to Kent State in 1977 to earn a degree in Library Science. She then spent seven years as Media Specialist at Tallmadge Junior High School. In 1983 she married Raymond Fitzpatrick and, until his death in 2009, they traveled the world visiting over 80 countries in their 26 years together. She and Raymond were longtime supporters of the Kent State University Museum, and for over twenty years Martha was a docent at Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens. Throughout her lifetime she was active in many organizations including KSU's Chestnut Society and Friends of Fashion and was a faithful member of P.E.O. for over fifty years. She is survived by her brother Edward L. Galloway (Barbara), son Michael Stanley Gee (Denise), daughter Nancy Oosterhoudt, grandchildren Anna Sary (Christian), Sarah Kraus (Jason) and Claire Oosterhoudt, great-grandchildren, Mallory Dolsen, Aidan and Brody Kraus, Wren Sary, and nieces Jeannie Denton (Joe), Heather Reid, Cheri Raschilla (Ed) Christy Barnhart (Todd), and nephews Robert Gee and Stephen Galloway. She is also survived by her stepson, Brian Fitzpatrick (Maureen), stepdaughters Mary Fitzpatrick, Janice Newland, Kathleen Baker (Kevin), and step-grandchildren, Bridget, Molly, and Kelly Fitzpatrick, Edward and Brendan Newland, Patrick and Laura Baker, and step-great-grandson Spencer Reader. A celebration of Martha Fitzpatick's life will be held Thursday, July 1st at 1 PM at The United Church of Christ, 1400 East Main Street, Kent, Ohio. The memorial service will be officiated by the Reverend Heather Wicks and the Reverend Phil Smith. In lieu of flowers Martha requested memorials be made to Crossroads Hospice, 3743 Boettier Oaks Drive, Suite E, Uniontown, Ohio, 44685.
