Martha C. Whalen, 89, of Kent, died Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at Maple Wood Care Center in Streetsboro.
She was born December 24, 1922 in Kent, to Elton and Helen C. (Bauer) Horning. Martha was a member of St. Patrick Church in Kent. She enjoyed playing cards, quilting, baking and volunteering at the County Clothing Center. Martha loved to spend time with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by son, Larry Whalen of Akron; daughters, Lyn (Mark) Miller of Smithville, Cathy (Wayne) Wilson of Kent, Marcia (James) Kuder of Cuyahoga Falls, Sharon Greitzer of Kent; grandchildren, Brian (Rachel) Miller, Lesley Miller, Jeffrey and Brett Wilson, John, Emily and Andrew Kuder, Shane, Eva and Garet Greitzer; great granddaughter, Mackenzie Miller; sisters, Marge Brown of Stow, Sally (Roger) Moyer of Wooster and Mary Ellen (Dale) Hissem of Franklinton, NC; brothers-in-law, Stan Drongowski of Stow and Bruce Arbaugh of Jewett. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Whalen; sisters, Dorothy Drongowski and Claire Arbaugh.
Calling hours will be held 5-7 PM Monday, February 6th at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent. Funeral mass will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, February 7th at St. Patrick Church. Burial will be held at Standing Rock Cemetery.
