Martha Louise Wilcox

March 9, 1922 — June 19, 2023

Martha Louise Wilcox, age 101, formerly of Streetsboro and Green, passed away Monday, June 19, 2023 at the Avenue at Aurora.  She was born March 9, 1922 in Streetsboro, Ohio to the late Osman and Clara Louise Thomas.

Martha graduated from Streetsboro High School and studied Library Science at Kent State University. She was a librarian for Green and Streetsboro schools, and co-founder of Mar-Lynn Lake Park in Streetsboro. She was a member of the Tyler Garden Club in Green, Portage County 4-H, Mother of Twins in Hudson, Esther Circle at Streetsboro Methodist Church, Daughters of America in Hudson, and also a den mother for the Streetsboro Cub Scouts. The naming of Thomas Heritage Park in Streetsboro on her ancestral property, brought her much joy.

Martha is survived by her children Gary (Rita), Dale (Debbie), Marlin (Joyce) Wilcox, Marlene (Eric) Wells, and daughter-in-law Shirley Wilcox. She was blessed with 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lynnwood; son Lynnwood (Gene); sister Marie Wilcox; and brother James Thomas. She is the last of her generation on both sides of the family.

Burial will take place 11:00 A.M. WEDNESDAY, June 28th at Evergreen Cemetery in Streetsboro.

Contributions in memory of Martha may be made to Friends of Streetsboro Parks (Thomas Heritage Park), P O Box 2236, Streetsboro, OH. 44241. A celebration of life and reunion of families will take place at a later date.
