Martha J. Workman (nee Pearson), 91, of Mantua, formally of Kent, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at Anna Maria of Aurora with her daughter at her side. She was born January 1, 1925 in Cuyahoga Falls to Raymond and Lucille (Helwig) Pearson. She graduated from Kent State High School in 1942. She married Richard L., on December 29, 1945 and recently celebrated 70 years of marriage. They resided in Kent for 56 years before moving to Mantua. She was employed by the Twin Coach Company in Kent during WWII until starting a family. Many may remember her from her time as a cashier at DuBois and The Kent State University Bookstore. She loved to sew, read, travel, shop and spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Richard L.; daughter, Judy Fiala of Mantua; son, John (Ronnie) Workman of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; brother, Dale (Juanita) Pearson of Mantua; and her sister-in-law, Irene Workman Symns French of Mt. Dora, FL. She is the grandmother to six grandchildren; Jodie Fiala (Kim Sumwalt) of Mantua, Michael (Linda) Fiala of Kent, Summer (Chris) Stewart of Henrietta, TX, Carrie (Frank) Jaeger of Hiram, Kiley (Jesse) Whitehead of Henrietta, TX, and Justin Workman of Seal Beach, CA; and sixteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Rick Workman; son-in-law, Joe Fiala; sister, Dona Rairigh; and granddaughter, Diana Lynn Fiala.

Calling hours will be Friday August 26, 2016 from 4-7 pm at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will be at a later date.
