Martin Robert Kiel, 57, of Ventura, CA, died suddenly Friday, December 9, 2016.
He was born January 28, 1959 in Akron to James Bernard and Kathleen (Braun) Kiel. He served as a Chief Petty Officer with the SeaBees of the US Navy. The Navy took Martin to places such as Spain, Port Hueneme CA, Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean, and to Louisiana where he helped with the construction of the Louisiana Medal of Honor Park and Museum. After retirement from the Navy, he was a journeyman carpenter with Union Local 0150 out of Camarillo CA.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela (Casello) Kiel, whom he married on March 20, 2014; siblings, Brian Kiel of San Diego, CA, Dennis Kiel of Akron, Roger Kiel of Akron, Kevin (Diana) Kiel of Fairport Harbor, Peggy (John) Dolensky of Akron, Chris (Jennifer) Kiel of Durango, CO, and Carol Redford of Sharon Twp.; nieces and nephews, Deven, Jessica, Jeffrey, Danielle, Margaret, James, Henry, Peter, Mary, Martha, John Paul, Izzy, and Sean; great nephews and great niece, Jacob, Cody, Macen, Wyatt, and Destinee. He was preceded in death by his father, James Kiel on October 1, 2016.
Calling hours will be held 5:30-7:30pm Thursday, December 22nd at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Friday, December 23rd at St. Patrick Church with Father Richard Pentello officiating. Burial will be held at Restland Cemetery.
