Mary Ann Brandt, 72, of Kent, died Friday, August 8, 2014 at KentRidge at Golden Pond.
She was born January 10, 1942 in Northampton, PA to Joseph and Mary (Frisch) Teklits. She is survived by her husband, Paul Brandt, whom she married on September 21, 1974; daughter, Kathryn (Dan) Perrico of Northfield Center; grandchildren, Taylor, Ryan and Sydney; and brother, Frank (Mary) Teklits of Warminster, PA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary Teklits; and sister, Tess Talotta.
Mary Ann was a Professor of Nursing at Clemson University and then Kent State University. She was a member of St. Patrick Church in Kent. Mary Ann was also a member of Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society in Nursing. Mary Ann's life must be remembered for her devotion to God and her church, St. Patrick Catholic Church in Kent, her appreciation of her loving family, especially her daughter and grandchildren, her dedication to helping others, which she did in a variety of ways, but most importantly in her work as a nurse and a teacher of nursing students. Those who knew her well know that she was at heart a positive person so strong in her love of life that its sorrows did not diminish her love of God and all of His creation.
Calling hours will be held 5-7 PM Tuesday, August 12th at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, August 13th at St. Patrick Church with Father Richard Pentello officiating. Burial will be held at Standing Rock Cemetery.
