Mary Kirsten Kneale, 66, of Kent, died Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Akron City Hospital Medical Center.
She was born April 21, 1948 in Denmark. Mary will be terribly missed by all who knew her and was an amazing and wonderful lady. She was a devoted friend and family member; and always remembered people with cards and letters for every occasion. Mary had a great sense of humor which was demonstrated in one area by sending wonderful humorous cards. She was an intelligent individual and had a great interest in politics. Mary was an avid lottery ticket player, movie buff, and reader. She was a member of the League of Women Voters. Mary worked for 33 years as a teacher's aide at the Ravenna City Schools. She enjoyed her students and coworkers at Brown Middle School and had many funny stories to share. She loved her many pets throughout the years and brought home several strays and unwanted animals as well. Her favorite bird was the hummingbird and always kept feeders in her yard wherever she lived.
She is survived by her husband, Allen D. Bowman, whom she married on June 13, 1977; siblings, Patricia Kotti, William Kneale, and Paul (Kim) Lauritzen; sister-in-law, Patricia Kneale; her beloved dog, Sadie; many nieces, nephews and friends; and her Steel Magnolias. She was preceded in death by her parents, William E. and Pauline (Sanford) Kneale, Kaj Lauritzen, and Ruth Madsen; brothers, Michael S. Kneale and John Lauritzen; brother-in-law, K. S. Kotti; sister-in-law, Mabel Kneale; and her furry sons and daughters.
Calling hours will be held 2-4 PM Sunday, October 12th at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent where a Service of Remembrance will be held 4:00 PM.
