Mary Ann Pizzute, 86, of Kent, died Sunday, November 6, 2011 at her home.
She was born October 28, 1925 in Cleveland to Antonio and Grace (Pulio) Battaglia. When she was five years old, her family moved to Brimfield Township where they went into the produce business both growing and selling. They later had a dairy farm and eventually went into the greenhouse business.
She was employed as a baker with the Kent State University Food Services for 13 years. She enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians baseball games, baking, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Patrick Church in Kent.
She is survived by her sons, Tony Pizzute of Kent, Louis Pizzute Jr. of Kent, and Tim (Pam) Pizzute of Kent; grandchildren, Timmy Pizzute of Kent and McKayla Pizzute of Kent; sisters, Josephine Hood of Mantua, Grace Harmon of Garrettsville, and Betty (Dick) Lohmier of Ravenna. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis J. Pizzute in 1995; and brothers, Angelo Battaglia, Paul Battaglia, Nicholas Battaglia, and Carl Battaglia.
Calling hours will be held 5-8 PM Wednesday, November 9th at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, November 10th at St. Patrick Church with Father Richard Pentello officiating. Entombment will be held at Grandview Memorial Park.
