Mary A. Smerick

Mary A. Smerick, 95, of Akron, passed away on Monday, November 25, 2024 at Brookdale Bath. She was born in Locust Gap, PA on May 16, 1929 to the late Thomas and Ruth Scully and was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church since 1952.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Smerick Sr. in 2001; sister Patrice Haggerty and son-in-law David Swanson.

She leaves her children, Joseph (Christine) Smerick Jr, Michael (Jennifer) Smerick and Suzanne Swanson; grandchildren, Rebecca Murphy, Thomas Murphy, Matthew (Erin) Smerick and Jessica (Rusty) Shankland; five great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and nieces, Laura (Greg) Skok, Maureen (Bob) Kascak and many other extended family members.

Mary will be laid to rest with her husband at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. A memorial service for the family will be held at a later date.
