Mary Catherine Taylor

December 20, 1927 — December 20, 2015

Mary Catherine Taylor, 88, of Kent, died Sunday, December 20, 2015 following a sudden illness.

She was born May 31, 1927 in Ravenna to Joseph W. and Catherine (Hostler) Habraken. She was a life member of St. Patrick Church where she served as a Eucharistic minister. She was active in the Young of Heart at Immaculate Conception Church in Ravenna and the Red Hat Society. She retired from Kent State University, where she was a member of the library's microfilm department. Mary enjoyed her job because she had the opportunity to meet and know students from all over the world.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister and friend to so many. She enjoyed hosting the many gatherings of family and friends. She relished traveling with family and friends visiting such places as the British Isles, Jordan, Israel, Egypt and Alaska to name a few. Although she was afraid of heights she climbed to the top of Masada, a mountain in Colorado and soared through the skies in a hot air balloon!

She is survived by her children, Gerald W. (Cathy) Taylor of Wadsworth, Gregory A. (Virginia) Taylor of Cuyahoga Falls, Douglas E. (Holly) Taylor of Kent, and Mary Kay Domino of Raleigh, NC; daughter-in-law, Mary Ellen Taylor of Coshocton, thirteen grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; siblings, Donna Matteson of Ashland, Jerry (Judy) Habraken of Sevierville, TN; Richard (Pat) Habraken of Warren; and Joseph (Pat) Habraken of Winter Haven, FL; and sister-in-law, Pat Habraken of Vero Beach, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne in 2000; son, Lawrence W.; brother, Robert Habraken; son-in-law, Anthony Domino and granddaughters, Maria Domino and Quinn Pfeiffer.

Calling hours will be held 3-6 PM Sunday, December 27th at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Monday, December 28 at St. Patrick's Church with Father Richard Pentello officiating. Burial will be held at Standing Rock Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the St. Patrick's School Endowment Fund, 127 Portage Street, Kent, OH 44240.
