Mary Louise Wunderle (nee Smith), passed away at the age of 91 on Dec 9, 2015.
Mary Lou was born May 27, 1924 in Galion, Ohio. The family moved to Akron in 1926. She attended Hotchkiss Grade School and graduated from East High School in 1942.
She worked as a secretary in the Engineering Department at Goodyear Aircraft during WW II, and later at Goodrich and Harwick Chemical Company. She married her husband of 65 years, John Patrick Wunderle in 1945.
She was a member of St. Mary's and St. Patrick's churches. She was a member of the Canal Society of Ohio, Sons and Daughters of Pioneer Riverman, Kent Historical Society, Red Hot Steppers of the Red Hat Society, and several golf leagues.
Her passions were, golf, travel, and cooking for which she won several awards.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; parents, Walter Smith and Effie McClintock; brother, Leroy Smith; granddaughters, Carlie Crocker and Erin Knuth; and daughter-in-law, Denise Wunderle.
Mary Lou leaves behind her 4 children, John Wunderle, Susanne Blok, Timothy (Jeanne), and Laurie Knuth (Gary); 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held 6-8 PM Monday, December 14th at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, December 15th at St. Patrick Church with Father Richard Pentello officiating. Burial will be held at Standing Rock Cemetery.
