Mary Ann Zalewski, age 83, of Kent, OH, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at home on Wednesday, October 23, 2024.
Mary Ann was born February 7, 1941, in Ravenna, OH to the late Chester and Mary (McMahon) Leslie.
After growing up on a farm in Lisbon, OH, Mary Ann moved back to Kent, OH for her senior year of high school and graduated with the Theodore Roosevelt High School Class of 1959. As a member of St. Patrick Church, she was introduced to the love of her life, Robert Zalewski. They built a loving home and life together and considered their children and grandchildren their greatest accomplishments.
Eternally energetic, Mary Ann was always ready for an adventure, whether it was traveling the country with her husband and children, celebrating special occasions, being a “Mom’s Taxi” or “Gma Uber” service, or having sleepovers with her many granddogs that adored her. All adventures involved infectious uncontrollable laughter, happy tears, and endless stories.
Mary Ann will always be remembered by her sparkling smile, kind words, warm hugs, and wishing us all “Sweet dreams.”
She is survived and cherished by her five children, Marie Juliana (Ralph), Karen Anzaldi (Tony), Terrence Zalewski (Sherri), Elaine Mattern, Colleen Perkins (Todd); her loving grandchildren, Samantha Anzaldi (Brad Balthaser), Devon Juliana (Alex Wissler), Emily Mattern (Patrick Nguyen), Tony Anzaldi (Ali), Stanley Zalewski (Maddie Frederick), Angelo Juliana, Julia Zalewski, Laura Zalewski, Robbie Perkins, Riley Perkins, and Patrick Mattern; her special sister-n-laws Ruth Leslie, Ilona Zalewski, Marcia Reed, and Kim Leslie; and she will always be dearly remembered as “Aunt Mimi” by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her four brothers Terrence, Jon Paul, Chester, and Philip; and granddaughter Alivia Juliana.
