Michael E. Mills, 52, of Ravenna, died Monday, January 30, 2017.

He was born November 29, 1964 in Ravenna, to Edward and Gaye (Grimsley) Mills. He was a 1983 graduate of Kent Roosevelt High School. In 1982, he was a member of the All-Ohio Youth Choir that performed at the Ohio State Fair, then in 1983 the choir toured and performed in Europe. Michael received his Bachelor's degree from Kent State and attended Miami University where he received his Master's degree. Michael was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa and the Phi Epsilon Kappa Honors Fraternity. He loved his Family, the Ohio State Buckeyes, golfing, Brittany's and helping people. On Christmas Eve Michael was very proud to celebrate his 17th year of Sobriety and was passionate about sharing the story of his journey.

He is survived by father, Edward (Lynnette) Mills of Aurora; mother, Gaye (Grimsley) Bricker of Kent; sister, Maren (Tim) Morgan of Streetsboro; nieces, Allie (Tyler) Johnson of Cincinnati and Emma Morgan of Streetsboro; nephew, Austin Morgan of Streetsboro; girlfriend, Kristen Green of Ravenna. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lee and Juliet Grimsley and Lester and Glenadene Mills; nephew, Ethan Morgan, step-father, Bill Bricker.

As Michael was an avid Buckeye Fan, his family would like to invite those attending to join them in wearing Ohio State apparel, to the calling hours.

Calling hours will be held 4-7 PM Monday, February 6 at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent and Tuesday from 1-2 PM at the United Methodist Church of Kent, 1435 E. Main Street, Kent. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 7 at United Methodist Church of Kent with Rev. Dr. David Palmer officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to National Brittany Rescue and Adoption Network, PO Box 5046, Greensburg, PA 15601-5058.
