Michael Edward Ruscin Jr.

July 11, 1946 — January 12, 2022

Aurora

Michael Edward Ruscin, Jr., age 75, of Aurora died surrounded by family on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at his home.

Michael was born on July 11, 1946, in Cleveland, to the late Michael and Mary (Piazza) Ruscin Sr.

He is survived by his wife, Miyoko (Suzuki) Ruscin; daughter, Holly (fiance James) Paterniti; half-brother to Mark (Jenny) Ruscin and Lee Ruscin; uncle to Kelly (Dave) Fuedo, Trey, Michael, Lee Jr., Eric, and Cal; grandchildren Dylan and Rylie. He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law Joseph Nicholas Paterniti.

Michael was known as "Mike" by friends and "Mickey" by family. Michael graduated from Euclid High School in 1965 and enlisted in the Army. He met his wife, Miyoko, while he was stationed in Japan. Miyoko worked for a motion picture company that was located on the Army base. Michael and Miyoko married in Japan and would return to the US with their 3-month-old daughter in 1969.

Michael enjoyed watching the Browns and Indians on television or in person. At home, he was the "assistant" couch coach for each team, and he would let the players know exactly what they did wrong and how they should do the next play. This would make his family laugh every time. If you would ask Michael which team he loved the most, he would answer the Cleveland Indians. He was no "fair-weather" fan, win or lose he was an avid Cleveland Indians fan. Michael also was on a baseball team and would play on the weekends in Cleveland.

Michael worked in a photo lab business for over 30 years and was an avid photographer. He had several photos he had taken placed on canvas to decorate his home. Before digital photography, it was difficult to know whether you had a good picture because you had to wait for the film to develop in order to see what pictures you had taken. Michael had such a "good eye" that he would have beautiful pictures no matter what.

Everyone who met Michael would always have positive and kind words to say about him. He was known as the "Mayor" in his family because everywhere the family went, he knew someone. He has now passed on the torch of "Mayor" to his grandson, who has proudly taken on this role.

Michael was a loving, caring, and big-hearted friend, husband, father, uncle, cousin, and grandfather. He made sure to make time for his daughter as she was growing up no matter how tired he was after work. Not only did he pitch a softball to his daughter, but he was also involved in her softball team as one of the coaches. His daughter will always remember him saying to her "you couldn't catch a ball even with a bushel basket", which he would say at every practice. He would constantly tease her (imitating her) by saying "I got it, I got it....oh, no I don't". These are memories his daughter will never forget.

He was extremely proud of both his grandson, Dylan, and granddaughter, Rylie. Whenever they entered the room, his eyes would beam with love and pride. They were definitely his joy.
