Miles Dick Tenney, 78, of Kent, Ohio, passed away peacefully Friday, March 20, 2015, after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Elkins, West Virginia to Miles Daniel ("Duke") Tenney and Irene Isabelle Currence. He moved to Brady Lake, Ohio at a young age; attended Brady Lake School, and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1956. He served his country and was Honorably Discharged from the U.S. Navy Reserves, July 1962. He was a resident of Kent, Ohio for over 60 years.
He worked in the auto repair industry and was a Service Manager for several dealers in the greater Akron area. He retired from Clarke Ford in 1996, and won the Gold Medallion Award from Ford Motors in 1995. Following his retirement he kept active with Flea Markets, E-Bay, and working auctions. He was active in his community attending Franklin Township meetings and he worked with the Township to improve safety of the township roads. He also donated land and time to the Portage Bike and Hike Trail.
Survivors are: his wife, Judy Tenney; sons Patrick A. Tenney and Joseph E. (Melissa) Tenney; daugthers, Denise T. Sells and S. Rebecca (Roger) Rose; sister, Vivian (Robert) Pitsinger; brother, Sidney (Connie) Holler; grandsons, Joseph L. Tenney, Jeremy (Bri) Tenney and Alex M. Tenney; granddaughter, Cam (Bryan) Jellison; great-grandchildren, Raymond and Cheyenne Fox, and Kylee and Beau Patrick Tenney; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, M. Daniel Tenney; mother, Irene I. Trinkle; step-father, Elmer Trinkle; and brother, Michael Holler.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2015, at 2 PM at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home, Kent, Ohio. Burial will be at Standing Rock Cemetery, Kent, Ohio.
