Morgan G. Closs, 92, of Kent, was called by God, on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital.  He was born in Bryan, TX on February 12, 1930 to the late Morgan G. and Wilma P. Closs.  He grew up in Texas, moving many times throughout the state.

Morgan was interested in airplanes since he was a little boy.  He built and flew model airplanes and delivered newspapers to pay for flight lessons.  He fulfilled his dream when he joined the Air Force and became a pilot.  Morgan was very proud of his 22 years of service.  After serving, he earned his master’s degree at Kent State University and continued taking classes and teaching at the University.  His third career was doing real estate appraisals for an independent company.

Morgan was a member of the United Methodist Church of Kent for over 48 years.  He volunteered in many capacities, including initiating and acting as Chief Cook of the All Daughter Banquet.

He enjoyed reading, working with computers, flying his light plane, traveling to visit family when he was able and mingling with friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, the Rev. Dr. Misty Closs and Carolyn Henderson.

Morgan will be missed by his loving wife of 53 years Gail Closs (the result of a blind date); daughters, Cathy (Dan) Mazzi, Barbara Bassett and Laura (Jay) Salmonson; grandchildren, Danielle, Breanna, Claire and Margo; great grandchildren, Autumn, Audrey, Wyatt and Kaitlynn; brother Frank (Anne) Closs and several nieces and nephews.
