Okey M. Gibson, 80, of Kent, died Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at Hennis Care Center Dover, OH. He was born January 30, 1930 in Joker, WV to Lora and Ada (Kerby) Gibson. Sargeant Okey served in the U. S. Army in Korea, where he received the Korean Service Medal with three bronze stars, Combat Infantryman's Badge, and United Nations Service Medal. He was a carpenter with the Reeves Lumber Company in Akron, for over fifty years. He is survived by sons, Michael (Cheryl) Gibson of Dover, OH. and Thomas P. (Jill) Gibson of Akron; daughters, Deborah S. Sanford of Brimfield, Donna L. Petrow of North Royalton; six grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and six step great grandchildren; brothers, Leon (Shirley) Gibson of Raeford, NC, and Ed (Dorothy) Gibson of Newcomerstown; sisters,: Betty Williams of Cleveland, Estelle Buckus of Rootstown, and Doris (Larry) Asbury of West Lafayette; He was preceded in death by his wife, of forty six years, Salona (Louthen), brothers, Eugene Gibson, Vernon Gibson, Todd Gibson, Don Gibson, and sister, Edra Rogers. Calling hours will be held 6-8 pm Sunday, July 11 at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent. Funeral services will be held 12 noon Monday, July 12 at the funeral Home. with Pastor Dan Alexoff officiating. Burial will be in Standing Rock Cemetery.
