Patricia A. Lacy passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 5th, 2025, after a courageous eight-year battle with dementia.
She was born on February 24, 1935, in Mayfield, Ohio to William and Emma Kling. Pat was a 1953 graduate of Mayfield High School where she was a trumpet player in the band.
She moved to Kent in 1955 with her first husband, David A. Barber and lived in the same house for the remainder of her life. She began working at Lawson‘s on State Route 43 for several years before moving on to the Kent State University audiovisual services for almost 30 years, where she retired from. Pat and her second husband, Leonard M. Lacy were married for almost 40 years. They loved to go camping at their trailer in Mt. Gilead and enjoyed gardening and shopping. She loved to get the entire family together at their house in Kent for Sunday dinners and holidays. She had a strong belief in God and was a member of the United Methodist Church of Kent for almost 70 years! She enjoyed her women’s circle group at the church and ushering on Sundays.
Pat was the true matriarch of our family and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her sons David (Mia) Barber, and Rick (Karen) Barber. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Jerry Kling; husband Leonard Lacy; son Tim Barber and stepdaughters JoAnn Lacy and Debbie Lacy.
A special thank you to the staff at Heritage of Hudson for taking such great care of our mother. You are angels.
Private services for the family are in the care of Bissler and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory, 628 W. Main St. Kent, OH 44240.
