Pat Smith, age 71, passed away on December 26th, 2022. He was born in Wooster, Ohio on November 16th, 1951 to parents Clair "Smitty" Smith and June (Hunt) Smith. He was a devoted husband, father, and Papa. Pat worked for over twenty years at Smithers Oasis followed by over 20 years at Kronos, and he continued helping Kronos clients professionally even after his retirement.
Pat greatly enjoyed playing role-playing and strategy board games with friends and family. He regularly attended and organized informal gaming events as well as attending national conventions where he often won tournaments and other awards. He will be missed by his many gaming companions around the country, and especially his Tuesday night gaming group of friends.
Pat was also an avid reader and enjoyed many genres of books, but especially science fiction and fantasy novels. He leaves behind a large library of books, movies, and games which he spent many years acquiring, organizing, and sharing with others.
Pat graduated from Stow High School in 1969. He later attended evening and weekend classes to earn college degrees while working full time and raising two children with his wife, Terry. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration and Management from Hiram College in 1985. He continued his pursuit of higher education at Kent State University, where he graduated with a Master of Business Administration degree in 1987.
Pat enjoyed traveling, especially with his wife Terry and with his daughter Tracy and grandson Aeden. Together Pat visited many locations including Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and the Bahamas. After Terry's passing, and even while requiring dialysis under Tracy's care, Pat and Tracy continued to travel and plan trips together.
Pat was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Theresa (Terry) Anne (Thomas) Smith, parents, and brother Mike. Surviving are his son Steven (Michelle); daughter Tracy; grandchildren Ilyana, Nikita, Kaius, Caspian, and Aeden; brother Doug; sister Sharon; furry companion Violet; and his Tuesday night gaming group of nearly 50 years.
