Patsy Paul Pizzute

May 6, 1922 — May 6, 2017

Patsy Paul Pizzute, 95, of Brimfield, died Saturday, May 6, 2017, at his home.

He was born May 1, 1922 in Kent to Tomaso and Carmella (Donato) Pizzute. He was a veteran of the Army during World War II. He was a lifetime member of St. Patrick Church and a member of Kent VFW Post 3703 and of Local 499. He donated blood many years for the Red Cross and was a Two Gallon Donor.

His faith and family were most important to him. He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Juliet (Bonzanto) Pizzute, whom he married on October 8, 1962; sons, Michael Pizzute of Dublin, OH and Steven Pizzute of Akron; daughters, Lisa (Patrick) Martin of Mentor and Laura Lewis of Boardman; and five grandchildren: Julia, Robert Scott and Mia Lewis, and Brianne and Patrick Martin. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Beatrice Pizzute and several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carmella and Tomaso Pizzute; brothers, Tony, Louis, Joseph, and James, and sisters, Anna Pizzute and Mary Near.

Mr. Pizzute worked for the C.L. Gougler Company while still attending Theodore Roosevelt High School. He first worked in the Milling Machine Division and then in the Lock Division. He then served in World War II as a member of the Ozarks 405th Company, 102nd Infantry Division. After the war, he returned to C.L. Gougler, working in Special Machines for 43 years before retiring in 1985.

He was an avid gardener, and master grower of all vegetables. He grew his peppers, tomatoes and zucchini from seed and enjoyed sharing his harvest with others. He also grew many varieties of herbs and garlic. He was a good steward of the Earth in all his gardening practices, and a strong supporter of recycling and repurposing materials.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the UH Portage Medical Center Hospice staff, including Heather, Marketa, Shakanda, and Dr. Prestegaard; as well as Drs. Banozic, Minott and Keyser.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, May 11th at St. Patrick Church with Father Richard Pentello officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the services at church. Burial will be held at Standing Rock Cemetery.
