Peter "Pete" Angelo

Peter J. Angelo, 86, of Kent, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Kent Healthcare Center, after a lengthy illness.

He was born October 29, 1929 in Canton to Thomas and Francis (Rizzi) Angelo. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Pete was a graduate of Canton McKinley High School in 1948. Pete graduated from Kent State University in 1952 with his B.S. degree in Education, in 1959 with his Master's in Trade and Industry, and in 1979 with his Educational Specialist degree. He was instrumental in developing the Vocational Club V.I.C.A. Pete was highly respected and admired by his peers and students alike. He had a great passion for his work. Pete retired as a teacher educator in Vocational Education at Kent State University in 1985.

Pete was most proud of his family whom he loved dearly. He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Chionchio) Angelo, whom he married on June 28, 1952 at St Patrick Church in Kent; son, Steven (Gina) Angelo of Canfield; daughter, Jodi (Rick) Haught of Cuyahoga Falls; grandsons, Nicholas (Erin) Haught, Jonathan (Taylor) Haught, Christopher Angelo, Andrew (Jessica) Angelo, Benjamin Angelo; a great grandson, Graham Haught; and brother, Joseph Angelo of Massillon. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Boccuti, Elizabeth Gensley and Antoinette Nicozini; brothers, Louis and Phillip Angelo.

With gratitude from the family to the many caregiving angels who so tenderly cared for Pete at Kent Healthcare, with Active Life Care, Home Instead, and with Great Lakes Hospice. Your support and gentleness are so appreciated by the family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, June 23rd at Holy Family Church (3179 Kent Road, Stow), with Fathers Paul Rosing and Mike Ausperk officiating. Visitation with the family will take place at Holy Family Church from 9:30-11:00AM on Thursday preceding the service. Private burial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Teachers' Scholarship Fund (3179 Kent Road, Stow, OH 44224) and The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 5700 Brecksville Road 3rd floor Independence, Ohio 44131 ( 216 ) 264-5680
