Phyllis Jean Baker, 90, of Kent, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2024 at Altercare Post Acute Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Kokomo, IN to the late Ralph and Ola Harris and was a 1952 graduate of Kokomo High School. Phyllis went on to attend Purdue University, San Mateo Community College and Kent State University. She was an avid animal lover, especially dogs and horses. She worked with the Portage Animal Protective League, where she served on the Board. Phyllis enjoyed sewing and needle work and will always be remembered as a kind and giving woman. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James Baker.
She leaves her children, Jan Rader, Ralph “Jeff” Baker (Joyce) and Jolie Baker; grandchildren, Jeanie Wills (Jason), James Rinehart (Jill) and Jenn Lisa Fernandez (Juan); and eight great grandchildren, Savanna Wills, J.R. Soulsby, Jason C. Wills, Ethan Wills, Lindsay Wills, Cameron Rinehart, Will Rinehart and Oscar Fernandez Lisa.
In honoring her wishes, Phyllis will be cremated and laid to rest at Albright Cemetery in Kokomo, IN at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made, in her name, to the Portage Animal Protective League or to Rose’s Rescue.
