Ralph Leonard Jordan, 64, of Kent died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013 at his home.
Born Aug. 22, 1948 in Akron, he was the son of Leonard and Roberta Jordan. He was reared in Stow, where he attended Stow High School. He was a veteran of U.S. Army, including two tours of duty in Vietnam from 1966 to 1968, and having attained the rank of Sergeant. Prior to being disabled, Mr. Jordan worked for nearly 30 years as a truck driver for Western Auto. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 496 in Kent and Captain Brady Post No. 3703, Veterans of Foreign Wars in Kent. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, reading about history, and traveling with his wife.
Survivors include his wife, Linda (Di Paolo), clerk of Kent City Council, whom he married April 29, 2012; children, Christine (Steve) Sexton of Azle, Texas and James (Amy) Jordan, Garland, Texas; stepchildren, Melinda Curry of Ravenna; Rebecca (Robert) Frisina of Cuyahoga Falls; and Walter C. (Sunshine) Knapp, III, Honolulu, Hawaii; grandchildren: Tori and Seth Sexton; Cody and Dylan Jordan; step-grandchildren, Breanna and Madison Curry and Giana Frisina; twin brother, Adam of Columbus; and sisters: Joan (Richard) Friend, Copley, Nancy Camp, Monroe, TN, Jane (George) Beech, Munroe Falls and Doris Jean (Gary) Beltram, Brimfield; mother-in-law, Pauline M. Soule' of Kent; brother-in-law, Roger J. Di Paolo of Stow; and numerous nieces and nephews. His sister, Helen Odom, died previously.
Calling hours will be held 6-9 PM Wednesday, January 9th at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent. The Kent American Legion will conduct "Post Everlasting" services at 5:45 PM Wednesday. Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, January 10th with Elder Wayne Enders officiating. Private graveside service at a later date at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman.
