Richard Quay King Jr. passed away with his family by his side on Friday, March 26th 2021. Dick was born in Steubenville, Ohio and graduated from Malabar Senior High School in Mansfield, Ohio.
He attended Ashland University where he played football and was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. He then studied abroad in France where he developed a love for Porsches. He continued his post graduate education at Kent State, where he met the love of his life, Gail. They married in 1976 and established a home and a business (King's Auto Repair) in Kent. He went on to have two daughters and six grandchildren. Dick was an active member of the Southeast Church of the Nazarene, serving on the board and enthusiastically donating to every baked goods sale. He was also a member of the Kent Rotary Club and an active member of the Northeast Ohio Porsche Community.
He was preceded in death by parents, Richard Senior and Elizabeth King and father in law, Richard Lane. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Gail, and daughters, Beth (Joe) Klinger of Burbank, CA and Katie (Charlie) Russ of Park Ridge, IL. Survived also by his mother in law, Dorothy Lane; brother, Robert (Renee) King and sister in laws, Gaye Goff and Becky (Ed) Myers. Six grandchildren lit up his life: Max, JJ, Lauren, Charlie, Jake and Molly. Dad we promise that each of these kids will learn to drive a stick shift and know that Porsche is a two syllable word.
A private family funeral will take place with a celebration of life planned for July 2021. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Southeast Church of the Nazarene, 771 Dunbar Rd., Tallmadge, OH 44278.
