Richard D "Rick" Lambert, 79, of Stow, died Sunday, April 7, 2013 at Maison Aine.
He was born February 23, 1934 in Ironton, to Golden Elby and Genevieve (Woods) Lambert. He was a veteran of the Navy serving from 1952-1962. Rick was a manager in the Distribution Center at Coca Cola in Akron, and also worked in the office and as a sales rep for Uniwear in Akron. After retiring from Uniwear, Rick was a Security Guard for Allstate Insurance for 12 years. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Stow. Rick was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed gardening.
Rick was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with the many grandchildren whom he 'inherited'-- TJ, Nick, Kristen, and Jeremy Schuch; Lindsay and Caden Sanger; Evan, Justin and Kayla Sharp; and also Zachary, Craig and Abigail Murray; and Hannah and Sam Grecar. Rick was known for his positive attitude. When asked, "How are you?" he would reply, "Outstanding!" and he was all that and more. Rick was a 16-year cancer survivor. He believed that family was important and was diligent about maintaining contact with his siblings. He also loved serving in the Navy and considered it an honor and a privilege to do so.
He is survived by his wife, Martha K. Sharp (Kolson) Lambert; sisters, Judy Cunningham of Rancho Santa Fe, CA and Bea Cremeans of Orlando, FL. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Phyllis Antes (Lambert); parents, Golden and Genevieve (Woods) Lambert; sister, Joann Lambert; brothers, Sonny, Robert and Ronald Lambert.
The family expresses deep appreciation for the wonderful care Rick received while a resident at Maison Aine.
A Memorial services will be held 4:00 PM Saturday, April 13th at First Christian Church of Stow, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Pastor Jonathan Rumburg will officiate the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, c/o Alzheimer's Research, 70 W. Streetsboro Street, Suite 301, Hudson, OH 44236. Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory are handling the arrangements.
