Richard Perkowski age 68 was a beloved son, father, grandfather, and friend to many during his lifetime. Richard was born and raised in Kent, Ohio in 1948 and passed away early in the morning on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at The Louis Stokes VA Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. Richard was a US Navy Vietnam War veteran. He was proud to have served in the Navy and was honored to be able to serve for his country. After serving his country he worked at the Kent State Golf Course where he spent several happy years working in an environment he enjoyed. In Richard's free time he enjoyed connecting with nature, gardening, building picnic tables, golfing, and much more. Richard was a man of tremendous character and he will be remembered as someone who cared very much for others. He was the type of man who would give you the shirt off of his back if you needed it. He was both loving and kind and those characteristics live on in his children Amanda (Aaron) Likavec and Steven Perkowski as well as his grandchildren Sofia, Graden, Jocelyn Likavec, and Adreona Perkowski as well as his siblings, Regina (Pete) Vitucci, Jim Perkowski, Valarie (Carl) Picelle, Mack (Gail) Perkowski and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Anne (Knapp) Perkowski; and sister and her husband, Beverly and Harland Lee.
The Perkowski-Likavec family will not be holding a public service or funeral for Richard in respect for his final wishes. In lieu of flowers it is suggested that any money that may have been spent on the flowers be instead donated to a VA Hospital of your choice.
