Rita M Fisher passed away on June 1, 2011 at Country Elegance in Ravenna, Ohio. Rita was a lifelong resident of Kent and the daughter of John and Stella Gardner. She was born in Alliance, Ohio in 1919. She and her husband Adam were married in 1938 and shortly thereafter built their home in Kent, Ohio where they lived for over 50 years.
Rita was a stay at home mom for the majority of her life and a devoted mother to her children. In the mid 1980s, she worked at the Kent State University library. She was a life member and Greeter at St. Patrick Catholic Church. She and Adam were members of the local Knight's of Columbus and could be found enjoying a game of bocce on most Friday nights. She also loved doing cross stitch and making baby quilts for her grandchildren. Every holiday she could be found in the kitchen preparing the most wonderful dinners but it was the delicious Christmas cookies the whole family loved the most.
Her husband of 57 years, Adam, died in 1995. Survivors include three children, Karen (Randall) Varesco of Bethany Beach, Delaware, John (Paula) Fisher and Robert (Louanna) Fisher both of Kent, four Grandchildren and three Great Grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 10 at the Newman Center at Kent State University, 1424 Horning Road, Kent, Ohio. Memorial gifts may be made to Country Elegance, 4222 Rockspring Road, Ravenna, Ohio 44266.
