Robert B. Arnold, M. D., 86 of Hudson, Ohio, formerly a 50 year resident of Kent, died Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at his home.

Robert B. Arnold was born April 1, 1932 in Dayton Ohio, the son of Dr. James and Mary Ellen (Brower) Arnold. Growing up and graduating high school in Lebanon Ohio, he received his Bachelor's in 1954 and Medical Degree in 1958 from the University of Cincinnati. He completed a Family Practice residency at Cincinnati General and Miami Valley Hospitals.

Robert served in the United States Navy as a member of the 6th Fleet from 1960-1963, where he was stationed aboard the USS Thuban and the USS Talbot County as ship's doctor. He remained in the Reserves until 1968 and retired as a Lt Commander. While a member of the Reserves, he completed a residency in Clinical and Anatomical Pathology at Cleveland Metro General Hospital remaining as an associate staff member from 1967-1995.

Robert joined the staff of Robinson Memorial Hospital in 1968, where he served in various capacities including Pathology Department Chair, President of the Medical Staff, and President of the County Medical Society. In 1997, he was awarded the prestigious "Distinguished Physician Award," only the eighth doctor to do so. He retired in 1998 after 30 Years of service.

He was a Trustee of the Portage Chapter of the American Cancer Society for 25 years, serving, as President in the 1980's. As a member of the Streetsboro United Methodist Church, he served 15 years as Chairman of the Administrative Council and as a member of several other committees. He was also a member of the Men's club.

Robert was an American History buff, who not only enjoyed reading histories but also taking vacations to historical places, battle sites, and museums. He was a member of the Kent Civil War Society. A music lover, Bob played the banjo for his family and friends and for his own enjoyment. He was as active member of the church choir for many years. Before age slowed him down, Bob enjoyed many outdoor activities, included hiking, cross country skiing, and golf. He won the club championship in his home town in 1956 and had a hole- in-one after retiring. He also enjoyed canoeing on many of Ohio's rivers.

Bob is survived by his wife of 52 years, Geri Koenig Arnold; daughters, Barbara (Richard Good) Arnold of Groveport, OH and Suzanne (James) Inglis of Akron; granddaughters, Carolyn Inglis and Virginia Inglis both of Akron; brother in law, Gordon Miller of Oregon; sister- in- law, Marlene Koenig of Streetsboro: and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Joyce Ann Miller.

Calling hours will be held Sunday, September 16th 2-4 PM at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent, and Monday September 17th from 10 - 11AM at the Streetsboro United Methodist Church, 8940 State Route 43, Streetsboro, where funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Josh Elliot officiating. Burial will be held at Standing Rock Cemetery.
