Robert E. Bancroft, 90, of Kent, died Monday, February 9, 2015 at Laurel Lake Care Center in Hudson.
He was born June 21, 1924 in Braceville, to Fred Francis and Elsie (Kline) Bancroft. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps during World War II, serving in the 20th Air Force 468th Bombardment Group in the China, India-Burma, Sumatra and Air Offensive Japan Campaigns. Robert retired in 1980 from Terex as a Buyer. He was a member of the Kent United Methodist Church for over 50 years. He was also a member of Rockton Lodge #316 for over 50 years and was a 32nd Degree Mason with the Canton Scottish Rite.
He is survived by daughters, Patti (Richard) Wilson of Kent and Jill (Bradley) Ioerger of Kingwood, TX; grandchildren, Kelly Wilson of Kent, Julia Ioerger of Kingwood, TX and Graham Ioerger of Kingwood, TX; sister, Barbara (Paul) Miller of North Canton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Bancroft of 63 years in 2011; brothers, Jim, Bill, Don, Melvin and Carl Bancroft; sisters, Laura Clapp and June Redmond.
Calling hours will be held 4-6 PM Friday, February 13th at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent, with Masonic Services being conducted by Rockton Lodge #316 at 6 PM. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, February 14th at the United Methodist Church of Kent-Chapel with Rev. Dr. David Palmer and Rev. Douglas Denton officiating.
